Extended Liability Service FAQs

What is Extended Liability Service?

Extended Liability Service is the is the name of the contents protection we can offer you whilst your goods are in storage. This will provide adequate cover for your goods whilst they are away from home in self-storage. The coverage provided protects your goods against, but is not limited to: water leaks, theft by forcible violent entry or exit, moth/insect damage, lightning, fire, explosion, earthquake, storm, flood, riot, strike etc.

Why is this change being implemented?

Insurance companies are changing the format in which self-storage companies provide cover to their customers. Rather than having a direct relationship between the customer and the insurer, it’s now an extension of Cinch Self-Storage’s policy. Nothing changes in how claims are made.

Is there any impact to me and my goods?

For now, there is no impact to you or your goods being stored with us. If you currently have a contents insurance policy with us, the Extended Liability Service will automatically replace your existing policy with no breaks, so your goods will stay protected.

What happens if I do not want coverage under this new Service?

We would always recommend using our own self-storage specific contents protection provided through our Extended Liability Service, which in the event of a claim, will provide you with both the appropriate cover and dedicated support. Third party policies may not be able to provide this level of service in helping you process any claim.

Not all household insurances will cover you whilst your possessions are away from your home in a self-storage facility. Please check the terms of your policy to ensure they cover your goods when stored in a self-storage facility.

If choosing to arrange your own insurance cover, your policy must provide the same high level of cover as Cinch Self-Storage’s Extended Liability Service. Your documentation, certificate, cover note and/or correspondence will be checked by a member of our team for compliance. Please remember it is your responsibility to keep your policy documentation valid and up to date.

Who do I contact if I have more questions about the Extended Liability Service?

If you have questions about the Extended Liability Service we offer, please reach out to a member of the store team and they will be happy to answer your queries. The terms and conditions can be found below.
